Illuminating Le Jardin sur Madison's Day-to-Night Transformation by L'Observatoire International
Perched atop One Madison Avenue, Le Jardin sur Madison is an exclusive rooftop event space designed by David Rockwell. This 5,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor oasis features a lushly landscaped garden and a striking curved wood ceiling that culminates in a 17-foot skylight, flooding the space with natural light. By day, it serves as a retreat for building tenants, offering a place to meet, work, or recharge. In the evening, it transforms into a private venue for events, with food and beverage curated by Chef Daniel Boulud.
Thoughtfully designed by L'Observatoire International, the lighting creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, subtly highlighting textures and architectural details while maintaining a sense of intimacy. The custom chandeliers, inspired by organic forms, cast intricate shadows that add depth and movement to the space. Discreet accent lighting ensures a seamless balance between natural and artificial light, allowing for a smooth transition from day to night.
Le Jardin sur Madison was recognized with a Silver award in Commercial Interior Design for Workspace Design at the 2024 International Design Awards. This honor highlights the project’s success in creating a space that functions as both a daytime retreat and a vibrant event venue.
