L’Observatoire International designed a lighting scheme for Bardot, a new restaurant in Istanbul, that captures the essence of old-school glamour with a modern twist. The warm and inviting atmosphere seamlessly integrates with decorative elements—referencing historical influences while remaining fresh and contemporary.

The intent was to create a timeless space, with classical cues reimagined through a contemporary lens. Layers of lighting are embedded within the architecture: soft glows emerge from hidden pockets and integrated details, contrasted with bold decorative fixtures that give the space its clear and distinctive character. By day, Bardot is airy and light-filled; by night, it transforms into a cinematic yet intimate setting—a glowing series of vaulted hideaways and booths, suffused with tones of honey and gold, culminating in the dramatic bar with its multi-level illuminated shelving.

All decorative fixtures were locally made, blending custom-fabricated pieces with found objects sourced from Istanbul’s many antique ateliers. The result is a captivating dining experience—brunch, lunch, or dinner—that firmly places Bardot among the most glamorous destinations in Istanbul’s vibrant culinary scene.
