Cecchi's, located in the West Village in New York City, is a new restaurant by industry veteran and author Michael Cecchi-Azzolina, who has run the front of house at some of NYC's top dining institutions, such as The Water Club, The River Cafe, Raoul's, and Le Coucou. The interior design, by Studio Becky Carter, reimagines the previous Café Loup as an American bar and grill, with an elegantly modern take on the space inspired by the carnivalesque artwork of Jean-Pierre Villafañe, who was commissioned to create custom murals along the dining walls. The walls of the corridor to the restroom and kitchen also feature site-specific drawings from artist Cacho Falcon. L'Observatoire International unified the long dining space with warm, discreetly illuminated walls and touches of indirect and glowing decorative lighting elements which were vintage or locally sourced by Carter, creating a soft atmospheric backdrop for a luminous bar with contrasting rich tones.
