CALVIN KLEIN, a global lifestyle brand founded in 1968, recently opened the CALVIN KLEIN 205W39NYC brand’s Paris headquarters. The new location expands the brand’s global footprint and further complements its already well-established presence in Milan.
Located in the heart of Paris, the headquarters are located at the historic 103 Rue de Grenelle in the city’s prestigious 7th arrondissement. The lighting created by L’Observatoire International emphasizes the creative language established through the design motifs. Coves of light and theatrical spotlights immerse the visitors as they enter into the royal blue reception area, texturing the curtain walls. By bringing a new identity to the redesigned space through revealing its historical architecture, the ambient light creates a sense of scale and grandeur, up-lighting the vaulted ceiling with a linear cove on a floating track. Reaffirming the brand’s statement of creative direction, different typologies of light are used to accent the different spaces of the store. Mounted under the floating tracks, spotlights highlight distinctive store features, while the recessed linear on the mezzanine duplicates the effect. On the first floor below, a uniform array of miniature and flexible lights are recessed in the ceiling, highlighting the color and materiality of the walls and reflecting off the glossy floor.
As a final layer to this original interior design, the lighting supports this unique curation of the retail experience, playing on the tensions between the dramatic and the immersive.
