2 World Trade Center will serve as the new headquarters for 21st Century Fox and News Corp, which will together occupy the lower half of the tower (the upper half will be leased to commercial tenants by Silverstein Properties). The design will link the skyscrapers of downtown Manhattan with the low-rise streetscape of Tribeca by presenting two different faces: From downtown one will see a tall, slender tower in keeping with the three neighboring towers with which it bounds the 9/11 Memorial Park. "From Tribeca, it will appear like a vertical village of singular buildings each tailored to their individual activities stacked on top of each other, forming parks and plazas in the sky," Bjarke Ingels.
L’Observatoire’s scope includes the exterior façade and plaza lighting, as well as the entrance lobbies and atrium on the ground floor.
