Designed by Francis Kéré / Kéré Architecture with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) as architect of record, the Las Vegas Museum of Art will be the city’s first freestanding art museum, located in downtown Symphony Park. Conceived as a civic gathering place and cultural landmark, the 60,000-square-foot building draws inspiration from the Mojave Desert, Las Vegas modernism, and the symbolic presence of the baobab tree.
The design features a stone-clad façade reflecting the hues of the Red Rock Mountains, a deep canopy forming a shaded public “front porch,” and light-filled interiors organized around a dramatic central staircase leading to floating galleries above. Sanctuary-like gallery spaces and an outdoor sculpture plaza reinforce the museum’s role as a place of refuge, connection, and cultural growth.
