The Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum is a teaching museum for the University of Minnesota. This project is the expansion of the original building that put Frank Gehry on the map in 1993. While the original building was the last to be drawn “by hand” by Gehry’s team, the addition took full advantage of the latest 3D modeling technologies (based on aviation design) to create the curved, undulating forms for which Gehry is now famous.
L’Observatoire international provided the lighting for the new facades and exhibition spaces.
