L'Observatoire International brings light and color to Hermès exhibition at Milan Design Week 2025

For the fifth consecutive year, Hermès has partnered with L'Observatoire International to create the lighting design for its installation at Milan Design Week. Returning to La Pelota, Hermès presents its new home collections within a striking, almost colorless environment.

Led by Hervé Descottes, founder and principal, L'Observatoire International collaborated closely on the scenography with the artistic directors of the Hermès home division, Charlotte Macaux Perelman and Alexis Fabry.

In contrast to the 2024 installation's focus on materiality and grounding, this year's presentation explores lightness, color, and reflection, seeking to create an emotional presence. The cavernous white-box space is transformed by suspended, geometric volumes, each displaying the new Hermès home creations.

These volumes emit a colorful glow at their base, casting pools of light onto the floor and creating precise, delicate halos that serve as the installation's primary spatial markers. This effect transforms the floor into a dynamic grid of color.
